Bacteria!

Hi! Have you ever had cholera or strep throat? If you have you should know that those diseases are caused by bacteria. Bacteria are single celled microbes with no nucleus. Don't get me wrong here, they can still control themselves and think! Bacteria come in different shapes such as rods, spheres, spirals, and chains. Some examples are streplicocci that cause strep throat and mycobacteria which causes tuberculosis. Bacteria really is tiny, they are usually 1-10 micrometers in length, you usually need a compound light microscope to see them. Bacteria is often found in water, even though they can't swim, so they use their flagella to move around. Flagella are their whip like tails which spin to propel them forward. They also use magnetism, air & water currents, and hitch rides on animals. How does these microbes get in your body? They can get in when you eat, drink, and breathe! Dont worry though a lot of bacteria is good. When bad bacteria do get inside you, they kill white blood cells, mostly the white blood cells win but when they dont, you get sick. Thank god for antibiotics! Hope you learned something!
