Mousetrap Car

The challenge was to build a car that was powered by a mousetrap. It sounds easy, but you have to think about a lot of things as you have to decide what kind of wheels to use, what kind of base, weight, length of string and dowels, etc.
The design that we came up with was a small body with 2 wheels in the back and one wheel in the front. We would use CD's as wheels, and they would be glued to the axle. The axle would connect to the mousetrap and that's would be the main power force of the car. We chose to make a small base as it would be lighter and take our car further. We looked online and watched videos for inspiration for our design.
The challenges we faced mainly were the fact the we first glued the mousetrap the wrong way. We managed to fix that problem though. Our main problem was that out car was very unreliable. Sometimes it would work, and other times it would not. That is one thing I would have liked to improve.
In the end, out car can make it past 5 meters, however the farthest our car traveled was 4.5 meters.
For next year I would recommend kids to not take this too easily. It sounds easy, but its not. There are a lot of factors you have to think about, and some of those factors are out of your control.
